Second episode of the Astral audio Experience. This time, we have Crown Vict, Shed the Red, I:Scintilla, Dying Regret, Uncrowned, and Celldweller. Music provided by garageband.com and the podsafe music network.

They say that the first step is often the hardest. Well in this case, you would be wrong. The Astral Audio experience has grown out of a dream, a concept, and is currently on its way to several podcatchers. We aim to give you independent artists and other content; making the Astral Audio podcast a truly interactive experience full of variety. Here is where I will update you on what is going on and the related projects that will impact the Astral Audio experience throughout the coming months.

What is going on? Work on the next episode of the Astral Audio experience is underway; a few changes are afoot. Thanks to feedback from various sources, what is currently Episode II will be removed from the feed; this is in part because of GarageBand.com’s playlist feature. While in theory it works, I thought it would list each band and artist in the show notes automaticly. It didn’t. Plus, it took some of the creative control out of my hands, and personally, I like the power to work my magic. I will do the change when time allows.

What will happen? I will rename what is Episode III to II, and I will also edit Episode I …. so each show states the episode number at the beginning. This will creat consistancy overall and give, you, the listeners less of a headache.

What is in the works? I submitted two auditions for DarkerProjects.com and so that ate up quite a bit of my recording time. Needless to say, the episode will be running a bit late. Also, I have a promo to whip up so other podcasters can spread the word about the Astral Audio experience. Depending on how things go, that should be finished either today or tomorrow. Check here for the official post and link. I am working on a more involving intro for the Astral Audio experience; something that will rope you in from the get go. To help me in this endeavour, I am calling on podcasters to provide additional voices! This will be explained over im or via email; the more the merrier so step up to the mic!

Final thoughts: This is an ever changing project that aims to provide entertainment and enjoyment. Any comments, questions, complaints, and requests are more than welcome. Don’t be hesitant to send me an email; I am quite punctual in responding.

Work on my first script has begun. However, that isn’t the inspiration for this post. (Well, actually I was prodded kinda sorta which I didn’t mind.) Anywho, I am in the process of working on a few audio side projects. I am oddly fascinated by hearing a sound and then editing it over the course of several hours. The final product not sounding anywhere near the original. Sound design seems to pull me in; the idea of giving a listener a way to feel as though he or she is in another world. My longest bit of work is over an hour in length; a multilayered evolving piece. The other smaller segments will be added in at various points. I might even mix some actual elements to remind the listener of some thread of reality. Keep it vague. I will actually want to perform a test to see how I react when near sleep while the project plays. I want an unnerving feel; dark, as if floating through a void. If I only had surround sound, then I’d be able to make the final piece more than just typical stereo.

The other project is a promo and introduction for the podcast; something to grab the listener and urge them to keep listening. A small script has been written and so far, one email has been sent to Jon Specht. I have a couple other people I will probably get feedback from before I make the final promo.

Show Synopsis:
The (fictional) host of the Astral Audio Experience is the leader of a secret society who defends this realm from entities within it and from other realms. The headquarters being the Astral Realm. “Just thought to contain a person’s astral body when he or she astral projects, it has been discovered that the realm can contain physical matter as well and has its own assortment of beings; good and evil.” As the tag line suggests, the Astral Audio Experience seeks to provide content from a wide array of possibilities … audio drama being a main focus. Since posting the audition roles on the 26th and sending an email out as well, I have received five sets of auditions (including the one I was given this afternoon) for several of the characters that will be appearing soon in the podcast. I have to say that I’m quite exstatic about the turn out so far, and I may have to extend the deadline to accomidate. It will depend on how many total auditions are submitted on the whole. I am listening to them as they end up in my inbox to save time; mentally checking off things I like, do not like etc. I will get to work on the first script this week in addition to the other things going on at present. There’s still time to submit so get them in early if you can.

I didn’t think of this idea, but J.C. Hutchins makes a valid point. As a blogger and podcaster, I understand how the two forms of media go hand in hand. Scott Sigler: How Misery and Evil Dead II Influenced My Novel Infected - AMC TV: Monsterfest

A must-read for those wanting to know how Scott came up with some of the ideas for his debut hardcover release. (This blog post contains spoilers.)

I’ve received two more sets of auditions and also a request to have the deadline extended a week. So now the deadline is the 13th. This isn’t a problem since I’ve been busy promoting Scott Sigler all this week. And another role is up for grabs; a chance to be the “voice” of the Astral Audio Experience. You would be the voice of all promos released by the Astral Audio Experience, open the show, announce who participated in the show in the credits at the end, etc. Someone who has done this sort of position is prefered since I’m listening for vocal delivery. If need be, the person who acts as the narrator will fill this role, but I’d like the two separate if possible.

Astral Audio Extra: Episode 5
