Firstly, the Experience Achievement project is postponed until further notice. I will be taking people’s requests to join in via comment or email; however, since no one has decided to do so thus far, it is better to somewhat shelve the idea until we have enough people to make it an engaging experience. Admittedly, I am disappointed at the lack of turn out, but everything happens for a reason. This bump in the road to success is no different and brings me to my next point.
I will be gone for much of the month of May. This executive producer is due for an overall assessment; therefore, I will be required to spend at least a couple weeks at the Addie McBryde center. They will test many skills and suggest equipment I will need to achieve my personal, academic, and career goals. Though I do not discuss my blindness or the challenges I go through, it is a somewhat not-so-well kept secret. After all, you come for the entertainment and the content we produce here; not to here about disability issues. That doesn’t mean I avoid questions tossed my way. I prefer to keep such things separate.
Since May is an important month for us here at Astral Audio Productions, my absence comes at a bad time. Indeed, I honestly thought I would have been asked to do this assessment sooner, but I will take it in stride. I think of this as my own personal wall to climb; a trial by fire so to speak. Last May marked the debut of our official website and the first full cast production episode; this may was to be the month of achievement discussed previously. Still, there is time to make a mark on the memory landscape. It is short notice, but I want to propose the following; hand over hosting duties for a month to other podcasters. This means that whoever flocks to my banner will host special Astral Audio Extra episodes and select music or their own content. Interested parties should email me no later than Saturday April 25.
I do have an episode planned for May 1st as my going away present and hope you all will enjoy it. Until I return, I wish you clear horizons.

The lack of audio updates not withstanding, I am pleased to launch an idea. Last year on this blog, I highlighted a lecture by Randy Pausch. Since we are nearing the first anniversary of Astral Audio Productions website, I wanted to do some reflecting and building. The idea is simple; helping you achieve your dreams. I am not an expert; nor do I claim to be one. I am a creative individual who performs and writes and connects. I teach and inspire others by being an example. Randy Pausch’s lecture inspired me to think bigger. Getting connected with bands and artists, working with several talented actors and writers, and getting to know each of you is humbling. So I’m throwing down the gauntlet and asking you to join me.

Purpose:

To collectively discover the ways Randy Pausch achieved his dreams by reviewing various resources and apply those strategies in all areas of our lives.

To encourage and connect with one another while also seeking to expand the network.

To promote a more interactive form of last year’s positive experiment by using dream achievement as the bar.

To discover our dreams and set goals for achieving them no matter how impossible they might seem.

To spread Randy’s message and be examples for our friends, colleagues, and families.

Resources:

The video of the Last Lecture.

The book of the same title about Randy Pausch.

Where do I sign up?

Leave a comment in this post. You will be asked to acquire a copy of the book in written or audio format since we will break it down chapter by chapter. Participants will be asked to write down their feelings, dreams, goals, and how they wish to achieve them. (Blog posts will be great here if possible.) Be sure to email me each time you post so it can be spread around. Spread the word on Twitter, FaceBook, wherever you think we can get traction. This project isn’t just good for personal growth but for businesses as well.

Is there a time limit?

No. And once we finish the book, the journey keeps going. Check back ever so often on the goals we discover and discuss so we may achieve them.

That is all there is to it. I want to start this project on May 1st. So that is plenty of time for people to sign up. Share this post, please retweet it, and I look forward to starting this beefed up version of the Positive Experiment.
